Choose the Right Clock for the Job
AlarmClock.live provides free browser tools for monitoring a time of day, tracking elapsed durations, or timing work sprints. No account or payment is needed. Browser tools depend on your device staying awake; they cannot wake up a computer that is completely turned off or in deep hardware hibernation.
Before You Leave an Alarm Running
- Verify System Clock: Browser alarms reference your device's internal system clock and time zone. Check that your local clock is set correctly.
- Preview Speaker Volume: Test audio playback beforehand and ensure sound isn't routed to wireless Bluetooth headphones left in another room.
- Perform a One-Minute Test: Set a test alarm one minute into the future with the browser tab in the exact state you intend to leave it overnight.
- Prevent Hardware Sleep: Adjust your operating system's sleep and screen saver settings so the device stays powered on while armed.
- Use a Redundant Backup: For critical flights or early morning appointments, always set a backup hardware alarm.
Audio Autoplay & Permissions
Modern web browsers require user interaction before granting permission to play audio. Interacting with the interface—such as clicking "Set An Alarm" or "Test Audio"—initializes the browser's Web Audio API context so that your wake tone can play when the target time is reached.
What Data is Remembered?
Alarm times, sound choices, and labels are saved locally in your browser's localStorage. They are not uploaded to an external account or shared across devices. Clear your saved data at any time using our privacy choices menu.
