Wake-up Alarm with Testable Tones

Choose a wake-up time and compare a soft chime, lower tone, rising sequence, or buzzer. Read the browser limits before using an online alarm.

Set a wake-up reminder you can test

This page sets an alarm for the next occurrence of a local clock time. Choose the time, select a tone, and press Test sound before setting the alarm. Read the confirmation date carefully: if the chosen time has already passed today, the alarm is scheduled for tomorrow. The time follows your device, so correct its clock and time zone before starting. The tool is useful for an awake-at-your-desk reminder or an extra cue alongside a separate wake-up alarm.

When the target time arrives, the tone repeats for up to two minutes. Cancel / stop silences it and clears the scheduled alarm. Choosing a different time does not move an armed alarm until you select Update alarm. This page deliberately starts without an armed alarm after a reload; set it again if you refresh, close, or navigate away. For saved settings and twelve additional sound choices, use the homepage alarm workspace.

Compare sounds before choosing loudness

The soft chime uses a smooth tone; the lower option changes its pitch; the buzzer adds a more abrupt harmonic texture. The rising option increases the level across three notes in each sequence. It is not a long overnight crescendo. Try each through the speaker you will actually use, at a comfortable volume. A tone that is obvious through headphones might be inaudible after those headphones disconnect or become the selected Bluetooth output.

There is no universal sound frequency that guarantees waking. Room noise, speaker response, hearing differences, and sleep all affect whether a cue is noticed. A sharper sound is not automatically a better or safer choice. Avoid solving a poor setup simply by increasing volume. Place the device where sound is unobstructed, confirm the output route, and use a dedicated alarm for an important departure, medication schedule, or other time-critical event.

Audio activation and overnight limits

Browsers commonly require a user action before audio can play. Test sound requests audio activation and gives you a chance to hear the actual output. A successful test is useful evidence about the current setup; it is not a promise that the browser will keep running overnight. Muting the tab, changing output devices, closing the lid, or suspending the operating system can still prevent an alert. This site cannot power on a device or wake a sleeping computer.

While the alarm is armed and the page is visible, the tool requests a screen wake lock where supported. The status line reports whether that request succeeded. A wake lock is not permission to ignore system sleep settings, and the browser may release it when the document is hidden or power is low. Keep the tab visible and the device awake. On a phone, locking the screen or switching apps can interrupt browser execution; a native alarm is the appropriate primary wake-up tool.

A practical evening check

Check tomorrow's required wake-up time against your calendar before arming anything. Allow time for your normal morning routine instead of relying on repeated snoozing. Test the alarm during the day with a nearby target time, then stop it and set the intended time again. If the browser reports that audio is unavailable, investigate the mute state and speaker route before proceeding. Our reliability guide explains the limits in more detail.

The built-in tones on this page are generated in the browser from original oscillator patterns. They do not stream music or download third-party recordings. Time and sound controls stay on your device; this page does not send your alarm time to a scheduling server. Report a reproducible sound problem through the contact page, including browser, operating system, and the tone you tested.
