FAQAlarmClock.live help

Alarm basics

Will the alarm work if I close the tab?

No. Keep AlarmClock.live and the browser open. A closed webpage cannot continue running its browser alarm.

Will it work if my computer or phone is asleep?

It may not. Operating systems can suspend browsers and background tabs during sleep or low-power modes. Keep the device awake and connected to power, then run a one-minute test under the same conditions you plan to use.

Does the alarm work with the screen locked?

That depends on the device, browser, and power settings. Some mobile systems heavily restrict background browser activity. Test it first and use the device’s native alarm if the test fails.

Do I need an account?

No account is required for the core alarm and timing tools.

Is AlarmClock.live free?

The core online alarm clock and timing tools are available without a subscription. The site may display paid advertising.

Sounds and media

Can I use my own alarm sound?

Yes. Available options include built-in sounds and tools for uploaded audio, microphone recordings, spoken messages, and media links. Always preview custom audio before relying on it.

Why did my streaming link not start automatically?

Streaming providers and browsers often block automatic playback or require sign-in. Keep a built-in alarm tone underneath linked media so the alarm still produces a dependable signal.

Where are my uploaded files or recordings stored?

Custom media is designed for local browser use. Browser cleanup, private browsing, or removing local data may erase related settings. See the Privacy Policy for more detail.

Why is my alarm too quiet?

Check system media volume, browser or tab mute controls, Bluetooth output, and the volume of the selected audio itself. Preview a built-in sound to isolate the problem.

Permissions and privacy

Why does the site request microphone access?

Microphone access is needed only when you choose to record a custom sound. You can deny or revoke that permission through your browser.

Should I allow notifications?

Notifications can add a visible alert, but the sound and notification permissions are separate. Test both if you plan to rely on them.

Does the site sell my uploaded audio?

No. Uploaded and recorded audio is intended for your own local alarm use. Advertising, analytics, and hosting providers may process ordinary technical data as described in the Privacy Policy.

Other timing tools

What is the difference between an alarm and a timer?

An alarm is set for a specific clock time. A timer counts down a duration, such as 20 minutes.

Can I use the stopwatch for laps?

Yes. The stopwatch includes lap timing so you can compare repeated intervals.

Can I compare different time zones?

Use the world-clock tools to compare locations. Verify daylight-saving changes when planning travel or meetings.

Reliability and safety

Should I use this as my only alarm?

Not for anything important. Web alarms depend on browser, device, power, and audio settings. Use a backup alarm for medication, travel, work, examinations, appointments, or safety-critical reminders.

What should I do if an alarm did not ring?

Follow the Alarm Reliability & Troubleshooting guide, then schedule a test one minute ahead. If the test fails under your intended conditions, use another alarm method.
